Understanding of the problem was partly hampered by not wanting to move the telescope while the wind was high, but after some confusion and false starts it looks like I hit on the combination to fix it right before opening when the weather improved second half. So in fact no time was lost to the problem that was not also affected by weather. Once we did get on sky, we were still struggling with intermittent clouds so I did not get a proper focus or seeing measurement. Later the clouds went away and I just focused on the fly from slitviewer images. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 48 14 20 274 (W) 1721 cloudy none 17:00 47 11 29 272 (W) 15919 cloudy dust 18:00 42 22 19 298 (WNW) 58858 cloudy dust 19:00 40 26 20 267 (W) 19730 cloudy dust 20:00 41 25 20 258 (WSW) 4365 cloudy none 21:00 39 26 24 237 (WSW) 3175 cloudy none 22:00 39 26 38 233 (SW) 1714 cloudy none 23:00 38 25 27 222 (SW) 2064 cloudy none 00:00 37 26 27 235 (SW) 2817 cloudy none 01:00 36 26 29 241 (WSW) mstly cldy none 02:00 34 24 16 266 (W) 1420 ptly cldy none 03:00 32 23 21 234 (SW) 1219 clear none 04:00 31 23 13 265 (W) 1291 clear none 05:00 31 21 10 262 (W) 1300 clear none 06:00 31 12 20 263 (W) 1112 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
