While test slews were fine, I had a collision when I released the break after NM04 took their cals. The wind was coming from the east but it wasn't above 30 mph. I think what happened was, in trying to release the break as soon as the mirror covers were open, I must have mistimed it and the covers hadn't fully opened. Once I moved the telescope off the crash pad everything was fine. Well, as far as mechanics go. The weather was windy, humid, more humid, more windy and I got some good exercise running up and down the stairs closing at opening the dome. We closed for about30 min around 20:00 due to humidity, reopened for another 20 min before we had to close again for another 30 min, then reopened for nearly 2.5 hours before needing to close again. We reopened a little after midnight and the humidity finally calmed down. The seeing did not improve. With the easterly winds and the high humidity, the seeing was comically bad, over 3". The best we were able to reach all night was just under 2". Too bad we weren't look at exoplanet transits. We closed down again at 05:04 after we couldn't get anything with 3". ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:21 dcamera 525( 387) 102 53 -0.7 1.9 3.0 2.9 -0.4 -- 3.42 20:24 dcamera 475( 244) 97 66 -0.8 0.0 0.9 -0.3 -0.5 -- 2.18 21:18 dcamera 418( 184) 112 46 -0.7 -0.3 0.3 -0.3 -0.1 -- 2.52 22:48 dcamera 504( 204) -133 78 -2.1 -1.4 -0.8 -1.7 -1.9 -- 1.77 00:25 dcamera 516( 195) 37 58 -2.2 -2.0 -1.8 -2.4 -2.1 -- 2.45 04:23 dcamera 493( 237) -99 49 -0.7 -0.7 -0.4 -0.6 -0.5 -- 2.75 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 42 20 0 250 (WSW) 730 mstly clr none 17:00 38 21 13 92 (E) 823 mstly clr none 18:00 35 22 8 74 (ENE) 938 clear none 19:00 32 26 20 71 (ENE) 856 clear humid 20:00 30 27 17 77 (ENE) clear humid 21:00 31 20 16 65 (ENE) 575 clear humid 22:00 31 18 27 70 (ENE) 536 clear none 23:00 28 23 27 66 (ENE) 542 clear humid 00:00 28 22 25 75 (ENE) clear humid 01:00 30 17 27 71 (ENE) 676 clear humid 02:00 30 13 17 81 (E) 762 clear humid 03:00 31 3 14 90 (E) 515 clear none 04:00 33 -3 16 93 (E) 512 clear none 05:00 31 -8 13 99 (E) 407 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
