Ah! But alas, you fools, a poor night! The seeing was terrible! It took over forever to get any kind of estimate at the beginning of the night. We were anywhere from 2.5 - 4". Those dang east winds. The dust started kicking up around 22:00 but it never got bad enough to force us to close. Things finally started to improve around midnight and we had good seeing for B half. I wish I could tell you a good April Fool's joke but, honestly, I don't think I could ever top this excellent paper: https://arxiv.org/abs/2003.14345 No problems tonight. And the diffuser worked great! Also, more props to Bill for doing fills and helping me out while I taught the WY group. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:16 arctic 690( 710) 103 66 0.1 1.6 3.0 1.2 0.3 sdss-i 1.78 20:31 arctic 840( 829) 102 69 -0.4 0.8 2.1 0.4 -0.1 sdss-i 2.26 01:22 tcamera 406( 554) -56 44 2.3 -0.3 0.3 -0.4 1.3 MKs 1.33 03:14 ecamera 535( -599) -74 78 2.1 0.2 0.9 0.3 1.4 Clear 1.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 47 11 7 257 (WSW) 2036 clear none 17:00 49 11 12 274 (W) 1640 clear none 18:00 43 9 7 255 (WSW) 1621 clear none 19:00 39 9 1 210 (SSW) 1256 clear none 20:00 33 11 15 73 (ENE) 1409 clear none 21:00 32 10 13 75 (ENE) 1369 clear none 22:00 32 9 14 79 (E) 1443 clear dust 23:00 31 8 16 80 (E) 1753 clear dust 00:00 30 8 15 79 (E) 2464 clear dust 01:00 31 9 10 90 (E) 4575 clear dust 02:00 32 9 4 159 (SSE) 5267 clear dust 03:00 33 7 6 115 (ESE) clear dust 04:00 36 5 14 160 (SSE) 2545 clear dust 05:00 35 5 16 151 (SSE) 3024 clear none 06:00 35 6 15 153 (SSE) 2347 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
