Winds peaked to around 65k with 1um dust up to near 100k. I honestly couldn't tell if there were even clouds over us. The winds started calming down around 10pm but the dust and humidity were high enough to keep us closed until nearly 2am. When we opened, seeing was better than expected given the northern wind and high temp differences. The class was able to get good practice on sky. Things got windy again after 5am, to the point where it gusted near our position and we had a dome collision before I could close the dome doors. After closing the dome and slewing to park, the break did the continued hiss again. I'm pretty sure this time I didn't do anything wrong. After reinitializing the axes and stopping them again, the break went into place but the hiss was longer than usual. All I can think is that the dome collision had something to do with it? ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 01:53 dcamera 64( -451) 116 58 -7.5 -6.1 -1.1 -6.7 -7.4 -- 2.25 02:37 dcamera 99( -462) 116 67 -7.6 -7.0 -4.2 -7.4 -7.6 -- 2.10 03:28 dcamera 224( -356) -8 82 -6.9 -7.3 -5.6 -7.3 -7.1 -- 1.96 04:59 dcamera 529( -12) -106 63 -5.9 -6.6 -5.8 -6.6 -6.1 -- 1.65 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 38 8 40 244 (WSW) 25207 clear dust 17:00 36 11 38 258 (WSW) 10445 clear dust 18:00 27 10 27 268 (W) 48474 clear dust 19:00 23 4 26 271 (W) 48239 clear dust 20:00 20 3 29 279 (W) 53955 clear dust 21:00 17 5 39 281 (W) 31066 mstly clr dust 22:00 15 9 32 294 (WNW) 7747 mstly clr dust 23:00 15 9 15 293 (WNW) mstly clr none 00:00 15 11 12 269 (W) mstly clr none 01:00 16 11 8 329 (NNW) clear humid 02:00 19 10 4 330 (NNW) 375 clear humid 03:00 19 11 10 29 (NNE) 437 clear humid 04:00 20 13 8 357 (N) 520 clear humid 05:00 22 14 18 24 (NNE) 517 clear humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
