Clouds to start the night, then a hole appeared. I opened around 19:40 and then went to focus ARCTIC and found an odd Black and White Checkerboard for the 4 quads. I tried restarting the nubs, which didn't work. Then called Russet before doing an init, which was the solution. We dropped a quad in the process but the users were able to observe in LL mode. We finally were on sky around 20:05. Unfortunately with the ARCTIC delay they may have missed the ingress, but they did report later that they got the egress. I logged into NICFPS via VNC and found the NICFPS-ICS program with an error. The computer seemed a tad sluggish but maybe just the VNC. I restarted the NICFPS-ICS program and tried restarting the nubs in TUI. NICFPS still would not connect and an error was again thrown on the NICFPS-ICS program. I restarted the NICFPS ICS computer this time and found the password missing from the password sheet. Luckily I remebered it! It is on the sheet now. The computer still seemed sluggish. I double clicked on the NICFPS-ICS icon but with the computer being sluggish it took a couple tries. Unfortunately it started two processes then the computer locked up completely and I could not VNC into it. I physically power cycled the button according the the wiki instructions. Let it sit for a while but still could not VNC. Maybe I didn't hold the power button down the requisit 30 seconds. Tried again. Successful ping and I could log in again. Followed instructions on wiki and was able to con nect to NICFPS again. Since the first half got their egress and the clouds were problematic, they re-took some flats since they used a different readout mode than original and gave the remaining 40 mins of time to the next program to use. 2nd half was on sky all night but the clouds really weren't condusive to getting anything useful for their program. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UW01 ARCTIC I/S 19:40 20:05 Odd B&W checkerboard pattern, needed init. dropped quad. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:13 arctic 501( 709) 27 67 4.3 5.5 5.8 5.2 4.5 SDSS_I 2.25 00:27 dcamera 576( 533) 127 70 4.2 4.1 4.6 4.0 4.1 -- 1.28 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 43 17 3 213 (SSW) 499 cloudy none 17:00 44 19 8 232 (SW) 575 cloudy none 18:00 41 17 8 211 (SSW) 477 cloudy none 19:00 41 17 7 268 (W) 509 ptly cldy none 20:00 40 17 10 271 (W) 539 ptly cldy none 21:00 40 17 5 263 (W) 576 ptly cldy none 22:00 40 16 3 273 (W) 543 mstly cldy none 23:00 40 16 1 235 (SW) 538 mstly cldy none 00:00 41 17 5 292 (WNW) 552 mstly cldy none 01:00 39 15 1 235 (SW) 614 mstly cldy none 02:00 41 14 9 334 (NNW) 456 mstly cldy none 03:00 40 17 11 328 (NNW) 207 mstly cldy none 04:00 40 20 5 336 (NNW) 200 mstly cldy none 05:00 43 27 9 332 (NNW) 154 mstly cldy none 06:00 42 22 2 326 (NW) 172 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
