They didn't reach 80 mph, but did reach 60 mph. When it wasn't super windy, it was humidity, foggy, sprinkling, sleeting, cloudy, or dusty. The in dome tasks we completed were: - DIS focus: no change - Dis scattered light - ecam focus: no change - making new masks for dcam and ecam - We attempted to make masks for kcam and found that a potential good set up was: Truss Bright quartz 0.5 sec exposure threshold of 0.8 However, we found that the masks were not being read properly by kcam. While kcam should look for its masks in /export/images/keep/masks/kcam, they were actually being pulled from /export/images/keep/masks/. We were not able to test the new mask on sky because of the weather, so it remains to be seen if the 0.8 threshold is the best setting. Good luck, JWST! ------------- Hopefully we were all good little astronomers this year and will find a JWST in our space stocking shortly. But since it's not Christmas Day just yet, there's still time for my special Night Before Christmas Song :D *jingling bells* 'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the site Not a creature was sleeping, oh not on this night; The coffee was sipped by the TUI with care, In hopes that the new Obs Spec soon would be there; The trainees were nestled all snug in their beds; While visions of JWST danced in their heads; And Russet in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap, Had just settled our brains for a long winter's yap, When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash. The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow, Gave a lustre of midday to objects below, When what to my wondering eyes did appear, But a moving truck (Ryder) where a tiny cat peered, With a purple haired driver so lively and quick, I knew in a moment she must be Townsend. More rapid than eagles her mad skills they came, And she whistled, and shouted, and called us by name: "Now, Candace! Now Russet! Now David and Jack No coffee, no crying, no yawning and flack! To the stop of the night! to the stop of the squall! Now rest away! rest away! rest away all!" As leaves that before the Flo'da hurricane fly, when she saw the new telescope, mount to the sky; So up to the dometop her callings they flew What a sight for sore eyes, oh the new Obs Spec flew— And then, in a twinkling, I heard from the hall, The laughing and clapping of each little call. As I drew up my head, and was turning around, In control room Dr. Townsend came with a bound. She was dressed all in cheer, from her head to her feet, And her clothes were all garnished with beading so sweet; A bundle of yarn she had flung on her back, And she looked like a pedler just opening her pack. Her eyes—how they twinkled! her dimples, how merry! Her cheeks were like roses, her nose like a cherry! Her droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow, And the scarf on her neck was as white as the snow; The band of a tie she held tight in her teeth, And the curls, it encircled her head like a wreath; She had a bright face and a little Rose kitty That purred when she laughed, like a bowl full of pretty. She was cheerful and pumped, a right jolly new doc, And I laughed when I saw her, in spite of myself; A wink of her eye and a twist of her head Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread; She spoke not a word, but went straight to her work, And filled all the dewers; then turned with a jerk, And laying her finger aside of her nose, And giving a nod, up the ladder she rose; She sprang to her chair, to the team gave a whistle, And away we all skipped like the down of a thistle. But I heard her exclaim, ere we slept for the night— "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!" ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 43 32 42 268 (W) 1629 cloudy lt rain 17:00 41 32 44 269 (W) cloudy lt rain 18:00 39 32 36 268 (W) cloudy lt rain 19:00 39 31 24 253 (WSW) cloudy lt rain 20:00 39 32 31 265 (W) cloudy lt rain 21:00 38 32 29 271 (W) mstly cldy fog 22:00 39 30 32 256 (WSW) mstly cldy fog 23:00 38 30 19 248 (WSW) 4269 cloudy humid 00:00 37 32 19 248 (WSW) cloudy humid 01:00 37 32 18 215 (SW) cloudy humid 02:00 36 32 22 235 (SW) ptly cldy humid 03:00 37 30 17 242 (WSW) mstly clr humid 04:00 35 30 22 244 (WSW) mstly clr fog 05:00 35 31 22 255 (WSW) mstly clr fog Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
