Anyway an expose init quickly recovered the instrument. The sky was looking good before sunset, with some cloud off to the east and southeast, at sunset these clouds decided to start moving over us and progressively grew worse. At the change-over at midnight I was able to focus at high altitude and we had excellent seeing, unfortunately my observers target was low in the East where the clouds were. Shortly after slewing to their target the clouds just got progressively worse and completely clouded us out for the rest of the night. The observer gave up at 04:00 as the weather did not look likely to improve. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:37 tcamera 413( 981) 35 61 1.7 3.7 3.9 3.7 2.3 Ks 1.08 22:42 tcamera 413( 821) 16 62 0.6 0.2 1.0 0.3 0.4 Ks 0.88 00:32 arctic 407( 665) 207 66 1.2 0.2 0.9 0.4 0.8 SDSS_i 0.54 00:33 NA2gdr -919(36080) 207 66 1.4 0.2 0.9 0.4 0.8 R 0.88 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 39 20 14 270 (W) 553 clear none 17:00 37 21 19 254 (WSW) 501 mstly clr none 18:00 35 20 18 247 (WSW) 489 ptly cldy none 19:00 35 20 12 252 (WSW) 520 ptly cldy none 20:00 35 20 13 261 (W) 360 mstly cldy none 21:00 35 19 13 263 (W) 328 ptly cldy none 22:00 34 18 11 261 (W) 322 mstly clr none 23:00 34 16 11 269 (W) 270 mstly clr none 00:00 34 15 12 262 (W) 248 mstly cldy none 01:00 34 16 11 265 (W) 308 cloudy none 02:00 34 18 3 254 (WSW) 340 cloudy none 03:00 34 19 12 268 (W) 458 cloudy none 04:00 34 20 7 256 (WSW) 451 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
