I updated echelle pointing...and then Russet mentioned that I hadn't cleared calibration offsets first. I reverted the changes because the NA1 pointing was actually fine all along. We made a new instrument block for KOSMOS using the center slit. We found a new plate scale of 0.454"/pix. Perhaps due to the bad seeing and significant cloud cover, we found it almost impossible to judge the telescope focus on the KOSMOS slitviewer, even covering more than 500 steps of focus. Nonetheless, we attempted to find the offset between slitviewer and spectrograph focus for the center slit anyway, but couldn't really get a conclusive answer. It got too cloudy to continue before we could do the same for the low slit, so we closed up at 02:00. The clouds cleared enough that we could open at 05:15 and get NA02 a little science before sunrise. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 23:33 ecamera 288( -636) -121 41 -4.3 -1.9 -0.3 -3.2 -3.3 Clear 2.62 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 29 28 27 263 (W) cloudy humid 17:00 27 26 20 262 (W) cloudy humid 18:00 25 24 9 261 (W) cloudy humid 19:00 25 24 12 288 (WNW) cloudy humid 20:00 25 22 9 295 (WNW) mstly cldy humid 21:00 25 22 8 7 (N) ptly cldy humid 22:00 25 21 12 11 (N) ptly cldy humid 23:00 24 17 9 7 (N) ptly cldy none 00:00 24 14 19 18 (NNE) mstly cldy none 01:00 27 15 12 15 (NNE) mstly cldy none 02:00 26 19 15 18 (NNE) cloudy none 03:00 27 8 16 317 (NW) 182 cloudy none 04:00 28 9 13 313 (NW) 165 ptly cldy none 05:00 28 11 8 297 (WNW) 160 mstly clr none 06:00 27 14 8 281 (W) 217 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
