Radar starting around 21:00 turned into light snow after 22:00, off and on. After midnight, wind speeds increased (with gusts over 40mph closer to sunrise), elevated dust levels, and high humidity. And then it snowed some more! Engineering tasks: - Did some extra slews during checkout to test for motion errors (and had none!) - Focus tests with KOSMOS while I was able to have the dome open, though I was unable to get any measurements for the high slit. - Took a more quantitative look at the focus data while it snowed - Measured KOSMOS slit widths on KOSMOS slitviewer and on KOSMOS images. - Began analyzing the gain data from last night. Parked telescope at alt=20 since the temperature got down below 2C. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:38 kcamera 335( 536) 100 50 2.5 4.1 4.3 3.5 3.1 -- 1.33 18:13 kosmos 315( 476) 97 57 2.6 3.3 3.4 2.7 2.7 -- 0.99 18:32 kcamera 300( 393) 95 61 2.5 2.0 3.1 2.4 2.6 -- 1.12 18:58 kosmos 375( 457) 92 66 2.7 1.8 2.9 2.2 2.6 -- 0.96 19:15 kcamera 375( 450) 90 70 2.5 1.7 2.8 2.0 2.4 -- 0.96 19:48 kosmos 450( 514) 84 77 2.7 1.5 2.6 1.8 2.2 -- 0.90 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 38 25 17 287 (WNW) 470 ptly cldy none 17:00 37 27 6 314 (NW) 439 mstly clr none 18:00 36 26 3 282 (WNW) 456 mstly clr none 19:00 37 27 1 223 (SW) 477 mstly cldy none 20:00 37 27 3 102 (ESE) 489 mstly cldy none 21:00 38 25 9 48 (NE) 376 cloudy none 22:00 37 25 12 80 (E) 319 cloudy lt snow 23:00 35 27 8 86 (E) 391 cloudy snow 00:00 28 24 21 84 (E) cloudy lt snow 01:00 27 14 18 81 (E) 2444 cloudy none 02:00 26 13 24 61 (ENE) 4036 cloudy lt snow 03:00 24 14 25 71 (ENE) 3280 cloudy lt snow 04:00 21 17 28 77 (ENE) cloudy snow 05:00 20 17 23 88 (E) cloudy snow 06:00 20 17 26 68 (ENE) cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
