Temperature remained stable for the rest of the night. Heavy clouds at the start of the night, combined with some unclear radar signals, kept us closed until end of twilight. After that the clouds thinned enough they didn't cause significant trouble with observing, and by the second half of the night the sky was photometric. When the second half observers logged in, they realized that their desired filter wasn't loaded. I had failed to double-check since that filter had been loaded earlier in the week, and also I was distracted by KOSMOS. Fortunately the filter swap was quick and there was time to spare before ingress of the transit event. The observers were working with the diffuser and the telescope defocused, so I did not get a seeing measurement. I parked the telescope at 20 deg alt to see if this makes the APOLLO aux pump happier. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:41 ecamera 191( -281) 153 59 6.2 8.0 7.7 7.6 6.9 ND2 0.82 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 45 14 3 253 (WSW) 1193 cloudy none 17:00 44 14 2 202 (SSW) 897 cloudy none 18:00 42 15 4 113 (ESE) 1301 ptly cldy none 19:00 44 12 2 237 (WSW) 1200 ptly cldy none 20:00 44 13 5 160 (SSE) 1102 ptly cldy none 21:00 44 13 2 212 (SSW) 864 mstly clr none 22:00 41 14 2 174 (S) 1567 mstly clr none 23:00 42 13 2 210 (SSW) 1048 clear none 00:00 41 14 2 212 (SSW) 1427 clear none 01:00 40 14 4 221 (SW) 1347 clear none 02:00 38 14 3 249 (WSW) 1522 clear none 03:00 38 14 3 235 (SW) 1786 clear none 04:00 38 14 4 259 (W) 1910 clear none 05:00 37 14 2 242 (WSW) 2027 clear none 06:00 36 14 2 239 (WSW) 2560 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
