OU01 had a night of successful observing and training in the first half, then got off sky a little early (23:45) and donated the rest of their time to BY02. BY02 reported minor guiding trouble with TSpec, not enough to be a huge problem. "We were having a little trouble having the guiding to be stable, and had to keep nudging the object into the slit. Not a huge effect, maybe a drift of 1" in a 5 min exposure. Not sure if this is transient, but thought we would bring it up." It was mostly in the -Y direction on the slitviewer, corresponding to upwards in the altitude direction. I don't think that is an unusual amount of drift for 10-15 mph winds, though. No problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:44 arctic 346( 1158) 218 34 11.5 11.5 11.6 11.3 11.2 SDSS_i 0.70 22:12 arctic 372( 1051) 94 18 9.0 8.3 9.1 8.1 8.1 SDSS_i 1.43 00:02 tcamera 372( 1130) 37 57 8.6 7.6 8.4 7.6 8.0 Ks 1.06 01:46 arctic 406( 1056) -55 33 9.9 8.1 8.7 8.0 8.9 SDSS_i 0.98 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 54 10 5 343 (NNW) 188 clear none 17:00 52 11 15 351 (N) 220 mstly clr none 18:00 52 6 10 7 (N) 85 clear none 19:00 53 7 12 355 (N) 93 mstly clr none 20:00 52 8 8 359 (N) 104 mstly clr none 21:00 50 11 4 338 (NNW) 144 clear none 22:00 48 11 10 336 (NNW) 320 clear none 23:00 49 11 10 308 (NW) 182 clear none 00:00 48 9 7 270 (W) 863 clear none 01:00 48 6 6 270 (W) 696 clear none 02:00 50 3 10 267 (W) 464 clear none 03:00 50 -1 17 292 (WNW) 291 clear none 04:00 50 1 16 277 (W) 370 clear none 05:00 48 2 14 301 (WNW) 369 clear none 06:00 48 6 16 316 (NW) 374 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
