However, northern winds blew, with winds gusting at 35 mph, and the seeing started to degrade. The UVa class finished up their second night and "discovered" a cataclysmic variable! There was much excitement until we realized it was U Gem. Ah well. No problems on the 3.5m tonight. Arcsat was another story. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:46 tcamera 366( 1197) 10 44 6.8 8.6 8.6 8.4 7.0 Ks 1.17 20:40 ecamera 424( -103) 306 72 7.3 7.0 7.5 7.2 7.1 ND2 0.64 23:12 APOLLO 375( 1629) -72 52 8.1 6.8 7.3 6.8 7.3 530 0.90 00:17 tcamera 405( 1121) -60 61 7.6 6.7 7.5 6.9 7.0 Ks 0.87 02:46 dcamera 468( 820) -72 27 7.0 6.3 6.9 6.3 6.6 -- 2.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 48 13 12 331 (NNW) 723 clear none 17:00 46 12 6 342 (NNW) 498 clear none 18:00 44 12 8 303 (WNW) 508 clear none 19:00 45 12 11 355 (N) 727 clear none 20:00 46 12 8 2 (N) 689 clear none 21:00 45 13 9 11 (N) 822 clear none 22:00 47 14 12 9 (N) 949 clear none 23:00 47 14 16 18 (NNE) 805 clear none 00:00 46 18 17 19 (NNE) 335 clear none 01:00 45 18 16 11 (N) 226 clear none 02:00 45 19 28 16 (NNE) 354 mstly clr none 03:00 45 18 22 42 (NE) 244 mstly clr none 04:00 49 2 16 48 (NE) 47 clear none 05:00 49 -2 13 30 (NNE) 42 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
