Russet and Sarah worked with UW10 on KOSMOS observations. While guiding using the NA2 guider it seems the shutter was getting stuck open. This was noticed around 3am when a bright star had vertical streaks. We had a show stopper during switch over to Tspec. While attempting to mount Tspec the crank shaft became disengaged from the bottom of the cart. This happened after the instrument was resting on the mushrooms. I tried rethreading it and raising/lowering the cart but was not able to fix it. Since we only had about an hour on sky, and it could not be fixed before Ben or Bill were able to make it to site, the time for WY02 was lost. However, Ben was able to fix it by 06:40am. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Wy02 T I/H 05:14 06:54 Tspec crank shaft disengaged, couldn't mount inst ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:11 ecamera 646( 467) 141 81 12.3 14.4 13.8 14.0 13.8 Clear 0.98 21:28 ecamera 386( 88) 237 59 12.0 11.7 12.2 11.4 11.7 Clear 0.90 01:27 kosmos 515( 1076) 259 43 12.3 11.7 12.1 11.6 12.1 -- 0.72 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 61 37 9 225 (SW) 557 ptly cldy none 17:00 60 37 17 205 (SSW) 498 ptly cldy none 18:00 56 35 13 218 (SW) 384 ptly cldy none 19:00 55 34 15 218 (SW) 419 ptly cldy none 20:00 54 34 13 231 (SW) 322 ptly cldy none 21:00 53 31 15 223 (SW) 261 ptly cldy none 22:00 53 26 11 231 (SW) 277 ptly cldy none 23:00 54 26 12 243 (WSW) 279 ptly cldy none 00:00 54 25 12 266 (W) 337 mstly clr none 01:00 53 30 15 265 (W) 324 mstly clr none 02:00 53 35 11 267 (W) 216 ptly cldy none 03:00 53 37 12 268 (W) 236 mstly cldy none 04:00 53 37 12 284 (WNW) 246 mstly cldy none 05:00 53 37 15 317 (NW) 390 mstly cldy none 06:00 53 37 11 306 (NW) 248 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
