They cleared up around midnight and we had approximately photometric skies the rest of the night with great seeing. Actually opened dome about half an hour into twilight (19:20) due to instrument commissioning/engineering setup and used the first couple of hours of A-half to get KOSMOS usable for UW06 science. 18:53-19:20 calibrations/engineering off-sky 19:20-21:00 engineering on sky necessary to use KOSMOS for UW06 - KOSMOS imaging mode instrument block - focusing in imaging mode, spectrum, and slitviewer 21:01-01:07 UW06 - science targets with KOSMOS! - the clouds were not helpful but we were able to get at least a few photons for a 18th mag quasar, along with some other spectra! 01:07-06:07 EN02 - more slitviewer vs imager vs spectrum focusing - faint target tests with PAL 1 cluster - testing different slits - faint limit estimate with standard star - took a couple of science test images We ended at the start of twilight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:37 kimage 0( 915) 93 59 10.6 13.1 12.8 12.6 10.9 -- 0.86 01:32 kimage 435( 849) 134 45 10.2 8.6 9.2 8.3 9.0 -- 0.81 02:15 kimage 460( 862) 55 55 9.2 8.5 9.2 8.4 8.8 -- 0.80 04:06 kimage 460( 839) 153 66 8.8 8.1 8.7 7.9 8.4 -- 0.69 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 54 36 6 304 (NW) 586 ptly cldy none 17:00 58 40 7 269 (W) 636 mstly clr none 18:00 54 35 2 287 (WNW) 625 mstly clr none 19:00 51 36 3 321 (NW) 672 mstly clr none 20:00 50 36 6 342 (NNW) 685 ptly cldy none 21:00 50 37 6 59 (ENE) 633 ptly cldy none 22:00 47 39 5 343 (NNW) 638 mstly cldy none 23:00 51 36 4 271 (W) 618 mstly cldy none 00:00 50 37 3 286 (WNW) 632 clear none 01:00 49 37 5 268 (W) 630 clear none 02:00 50 37 3 255 (WSW) 747 clear none 03:00 50 38 2 245 (WSW) 702 clear none 04:00 48 37 5 204 (SSW) 696 clear none 05:00 49 37 2 211 (SSW) 657 clear none 06:00 49 39 2 214 (SW) 736 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
