After some in-dome troubleshooting during the first part of the night, we opened at 20:34, did an instrument block for the KOSMOS slitviewer, then closed at 22:00 due to humidity. We tested internal and truss calibrations while we were closed. The humidity dropped, so we then opened around midnight to get some on-sky, first light time with the spectrograph itself. Unfortunately, KOSMOS technical issues eventually threw a wrench in the works; see details in Russet's engineering email. That's what a commissioning night is for! We switched to DIS at 03:30 and did a few engineering tasks (slitviewer vs. spectrograph focus, pinhole flats, Agile pointing check) before APOLLO's time. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:54 kosmos 400( 1107) 81 74 7.5 8.8 9.7 8.6 7.5 -- 1.30 00:30 kosmos 375( 974) 267 59 6.1 6.3 7.5 6.1 6.0 -- 1.72 03:40 dcamera 487( 784) 44 69 6.8 5.8 6.5 5.7 6.6 -- 1.13 04:20 dcamera 497( 803) 16 74 7.9 6.0 6.7 5.9 6.5 -- 1.06 05:47 APOLLO 425( 1718) 89 24 8.6 7.1 7.5 7.2 7.9 530 1.70 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 53 38 7 291 (WNW) 663 ptly cldy none 17:00 52 39 11 304 (NW) 603 clear none 18:00 49 36 6 10 (N) 550 clear none 19:00 47 37 11 59 (ENE) 671 clear none 20:00 46 41 12 84 (E) 831 clear humid 21:00 46 41 13 88 (E) clear humid 22:00 44 40 15 84 (E) clear humid 23:00 43 37 15 80 (E) clear none 00:00 44 37 15 86 (E) 458 clear none 01:00 43 37 14 89 (E) clear none 02:00 43 37 8 88 (E) clear none 03:00 43 36 7 109 (ESE) 628 clear none 04:00 45 35 6 126 (SE) 568 clear none 05:00 46 32 3 112 (ESE) 674 clear none 06:00 47 32 8 107 (ESE) 480 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
