The DIS observer had faint targets that could not cut through the clouds when they got thick, but the brighter Tspec target was still observable. At the start of the night, there was a problem with the ARCTIC filter wheel which needed a controller restart. Then later during the switch from ARCTIC to DIS, ARCTIC became unexpectedly wedged and I had to recruit a second person to help me get it unstuck. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UW02 R I/H 17:24 17:32 ARCTIC FW needed ctrlr restart UW08 R I/H 20:25 20:35 Difficulty dismounting ARCTIC ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:56 arctic 585( 742) 21 71 3.7 4.5 5.0 4.1 3.8 sdss_g 0.84 20:56 dcamera 591( 520) -60 68 3.8 3.5 4.2 3.6 3.6 - 1.21 05:40 tcamera 526( 784) 155 66 3.3 2.3 3.3 2.8 2.9 Ks 0.90 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 41 -6 12 358 (N) 290 clear none 17:00 39 -5 17 21 (NNE) 571 clear none 18:00 38 -8 19 8 (N) 490 clear none 19:00 39 -5 8 355 (N) 385 clear none 20:00 39 -5 7 353 (N) 369 clear none 21:00 39 -3 11 4 (N) 411 clear none 22:00 39 -4 2 8 (N) 412 clear none 23:00 38 1 7 7 (N) 354 clear none 00:00 37 4 14 10 (N) 354 clear none 01:00 36 4 10 18 (NNE) 326 mstly clr none 02:00 37 8 8 348 (NNW) 271 mstly clr none 03:00 38 8 8 350 (N) 315 ptly cldy none 04:00 39 10 1 336 (NNW) 249 ptly cldy none 05:00 39 8 8 339 (NNW) 276 ptly cldy none 06:00 38 9 9 314 (NW) 326 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
