At the changeover to ARCTIC, the diffuser did not move into place when commanded. There was some delay in identifying the problem because the targets were at very high airmass; I included the delay time as lost to EQUIP, in addition to the time needed to re-take flats. Once we were certain what it was doing, I tried turning the instrument upside-down to help move the diffuser into place, and that worked, so it wasn't necessary to take the time to dismount the instrument. So it seems the diffuser in/out motion sort of works but not at full efficiency. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OU01 R I/H 00:46 01:22 ARCTIC diffuser needs gravity to move ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 05:40 tcamera 526( 784) 155 66 3.3 2.3 3.3 2.8 2.9 Ks 0.90 17:31 APOLLO 600( 1294) 78 48 0.7 1.8 2.4 2.0 1.1 530 2.20 00:40 arctic 530( 454) 76 67 -0.4 -0.5 0.0 -0.6 -0.5 sdss_i 0.81 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 37 24 22 235 (SW) 282 mstly clr none 17:00 35 19 19 250 (WSW) 204 mstly clr none 18:00 33 20 22 263 (W) 238 mstly clr none 19:00 33 20 20 241 (WSW) 221 clear none 20:00 33 18 21 240 (WSW) 157 mstly clr none 21:00 31 19 24 239 (WSW) 192 mstly clr none 22:00 32 19 17 239 (WSW) 224 mstly clr none 23:00 32 19 14 240 (WSW) 193 mstly clr none 00:00 32 18 13 229 (SW) 200 mstly clr none 01:00 32 16 10 250 (WSW) 171 mstly clr none 02:00 31 16 15 219 (SW) 134 mstly clr none 03:00 32 17 20 210 (SSW) 155 mstly clr none 04:00 32 19 21 205 (SSW) 157 clear none 05:00 32 20 19 201 (SSW) 151 clear none 06:00 33 20 21 200 (SSW) 167 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
