Around 22:50 a front hit us with high winds and the dust counts spiked. We had to close shortly after. Dust began to drop around 00:00 but the winds were increasing. Humidity began to rise as the temperature dropped as well. The humidity began to drop around 01:30 but winds remained high. When they finally came down just low enough to open the seeing was awful: the worst I've ever witnessed here ( >7 arcseconds!). Humidity shut us down again at 04:20. We did not open again. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:36 dcamera 385( 1057) 96 53 16.6 19.1 19.2 19.0 16.5 - 1.66 20:33 dcamera 424( 1042) -148 51 17.4 17.9 18.0 17.4 17.2 - 1.29 21:47 dcamera 448( 1026) -95 50 17.1 17.1 17.5 16.6 16.9 - 1.33 02:19 dcamera 450( 588) 17 60 3.1 7.7 9.0 7.4 4.1 - 7.03 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 68 25 16 253 (WSW) 664 clear none 17:00 65 24 7 286 (WNW) 647 clear none 18:00 64 24 5 351 (N) 757 clear none 19:00 62 23 1 113 (ESE) 704 clear none 20:00 62 22 9 4 (N) 623 clear none 21:00 63 19 8 15 (NNE) 578 clear none 22:00 61 18 4 2 (N) 582 clear none 23:00 50 32 27 71 (ENE) 8920 clear dust 00:00 47 32 31 73 (ENE) 6029 clear dust 01:00 44 32 18 57 (ENE) clear humid 02:00 39 32 24 73 (ENE) 4148 clear none 03:00 36 31 32 73 (ENE) 2873 clear none 04:00 34 30 23 71 (ENE) clear humid 05:00 32 29 29 72 (ENE) clear humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
