David logged in to practice on viewing the moon (during daytime) and we had problems with ARCSAT to start in not wanting to take exposures. Restarting the software (ACP, FocusMax, MaximDL) seemed to fix the issue. Then the ARCSAT user went to start sky flats and we got the dreaded library load error issue we have seen. Restart software fixed that. Then my 3.5m observers noticed the first sky flat images had a lot of vignetting. I moved the filter to a different filter and the filter wheel got stuck moving (it wasn't actually moving but thought it was). After trying to home the wheel, I went up to inspect it. I found a couple screws protruding out the back but after re-installation the software still thought the wheel was moving. I called Russet and she restarted the filter wheel computer to fix the issue (while I dealt with more ARCSAT issues). No further problems moving filters. We then had numerous ARCSAT issues from the dreaded library permission error, camera not wanting to expose, and a new ExpStartTime not set error (perhaps guider related?). Separate email sent to Bill. Once we got ARCTIC running my observers were then having issues with their python script loading an older version (unknown to them). ARCSAT users was also still having an issue with their script as well (bad " character used) and the occasional library issue. The ARCTIC users just renamed their script to fix the problem and the newly named one worked fine. All in all it was a busy first 4-5 hrs on the telescope dealing with all of the issues with both telescopes, but in the end everything was resolved with both telescope. Then around 03:00 my remote observer reported that his DIS slit images were no longer being transferred to his machine. I suggested closing TUI and re-starting it. That fixed the issue. No other issues for the remainder of the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NA01 A I/H 19:08 19:42 ARCTIC filter wheel got stuck moving (not actually moving but it thought so).
