Hopefully those will hold good until our next engineering. Weather was quite nice with clear skies and good seeing. There's a lot less stratospheric smoke causing extinction than there was last weekend, although still just as much or maybe more ground-level smoke. That's annoying but at least within the realm of former experience for me, unlike Jupiter-looks-like-Mars which was a real eye-opener and no mistake. Everything worked well with the 3.5m, but there was a lot of struggling with ARCSAT. Strruggling to get the camera connected (and keep it connected), struggling to get the cooler to work, struggling to interpret the opaque error messages when scripts failed repeatedly. Bill logged in and tried to figure it out too, but eventually decided it was time to give up around 23:30, so ARCSAT did not get any data tonight. If no luck figuring out these issues during the day, we might have to switch to FlareCam for the next couple of weeks. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:32 dcamera 571( 1115) 69 63 13.3 16.3 15.9 15.9 14.3 - 1.22 01:14 dcamera 510( 852) -41 59 12.5 12.0 12.6 12.1 12.4 - 1.14 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 62 32 12 184 (S) 2566 clear none 17:00 63 32 8 236 (SW) 2547 clear none 18:00 63 32 6 247 (WSW) 2659 clear none 19:00 57 31 3 212 (SSW) 2716 clear none 20:00 56 30 8 131 (SE) 3096 clear none 21:00 53 31 4 145 (SE) 2639 clear none 22:00 53 31 6 112 (ESE) 2762 clear none 23:00 54 31 2 196 (SSW) 3180 clear none 00:00 56 31 4 189 (S) 2748 clear none 01:00 55 31 5 199 (SSW) 2794 clear none 02:00 54 31 6 222 (SW) 2706 clear none 03:00 52 31 6 242 (WSW) 3240 clear none 04:00 52 31 6 191 (S) 2770 clear none 05:00 52 31 3 202 (SSW) 3354 clear none 06:00 52 31 4 268 (W) 2634 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
