The clouds went away after sunset, the haze didn't. ARCSAT gave us a bunch of issues during the evening: -Crash on setting temperature setpoint (this was me doing this, not the observers) -"Problem initializing support library" issue -ACP hanging when attempting a pointing update -Camera not responding to MaximDL commands when trying to do a manual pointing check Eventually we just restarted all the top-level software on arcsat-user and it seemed to calm down; the failed pointing update may have been because we were several arcminutes off to the north and west. Sometime around 05:00, the ARCSAT observer also reported that ACP was failing to plate-solve on the Orion Nebula, and...I have no explanation for that one. You'd think it would be able to find stars on one of the most famous objects in the night sky. NM07 ended slightly early and gave the rest of their time to GS01. GS01 will be running calibrations with ARCTIC (darks and biases only) for a couple hours, and we do have network maintenance scheduled this morning. However, the script should still run fine regardless, so I told them to just try to log in again about half an hour later if they get kicked off. It got even more smoky towards the end of B-half. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:45 dcamera 640( 1116) 99 47 11.8 14.8 14.7 14.8 12.2 -- 1.41 01:06 arctic 534( 931) -28 64 10.1 9.5 10.2 9.4 9.7 CU Halpha 1.92 02:47 arctic 490( 852) -89 81 9.1 8.9 9.6 8.8 9.0 J-C B 2.26 Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 58 31 7 262 (W) 875 ptly cldy none 17:00 59 31 7 300 (WNW) 834 ptly cldy none 18:00 58 30 1 249 (WSW) 858 ptly cldy none 19:00 55 28 1 248 (WSW) 862 mstly clr none 20:00 53 30 11 82 (E) 802 clear none 21:00 52 30 18 76 (ENE) 816 clear none 22:00 51 28 17 74 (ENE) 795 clear none 23:00 51 30 17 70 (ENE) 872 clear none 00:00 50 30 18 73 (ENE) 947 clear none 01:00 50 30 18 76 (ENE) 1108 clear none 02:00 49 30 17 77 (ENE) 1163 clear none 03:00 49 29 17 77 (ENE) 1735 clear none 04:00 50 29 7 104 (ESE) 2221 clear none 05:00 47 30 9 87 (E) 1590 clear none 06:00 49 28 8 48 (NE) 3354 clear dust Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
