The first exposure was weirdly blocky; the next four I tried had bright white stripes covering most of the chip at a few thousand counts, decreasing in coverage with each exposure. Russet suggested it was due to a high temperature and to let it cool down. (It was fairly warm in the intermediate level this afternoon.) The DIS temperature readout in the TUI instrument window gave a temp of 199.9 K for the red side. As it slowly cooled off, I took another around sunset and it looked normal again, with DIS temps of 197.5 K. The blue side was fine the entire time. We closed at 21:25 due to incoming rain. I hoped that it would clear up before the end of A half, but the rain and cloud cover lingered until after switchover. We opened up again at 01:32 and stayed open the rest of the night, until closing up around 05:55. No problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:23 arctic 353( 1326) 91 35 16.6 21.4 21.6 20.6 17.1 V 2.45 01:42 dcamera 346( 784) 110 56 12.4 14.1 14.9 13.9 12.7 -- 2.16 Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 74 40 7 267 (W) 1065 clear none 17:00 73 38 4 252 (WSW) 1059 mstly clr none 18:00 74 38 8 235 (SW) 1008 mstly clr none 19:00 72 36 12 223 (SW) 1088 mstly cldy lt rain 20:00 59 35 17 107 (ESE) 1033 clear none 21:00 66 36 14 151 (SSE) 1389 mstly clr none 22:00 62 34 8 91 (E) 928 mstly cldy none 23:00 57 26 27 75 (ENE) 1105 cloudy rain 00:00 54 26 20 77 (ENE) 689 cloudy none 01:00 57 26 18 78 (ENE) 704 ptly cldy none 02:00 62 30 2 52 (NE) 799 mstly clr none 03:00 64 31 8 270 (W) 942 clear none 04:00 62 30 5 349 (N) 965 clear none 05:00 63 30 3 269 (W) 855 clear none 06:00 63 28 7 334 (NNW) 844 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
