Later a much larger storm system charged down from the north, and we had to close. Although the storm lost a lot of energy on approach, it still made for clouds and some rain and a few lively wind gusts, so we were not able to open again. On the switch from echelle to DIS, the NA2 rotator did not initialize properly but it also did not display an error in the status window so I didn't realize right away that it wasn't moving to the desired position. At first it wasn't really a problem because the targets were near the meridian, but later the discrepancy in rotation became apparent so I fixed it. No time was lost to this problem, but we will all have to watch out for "silent" rotator errors moving forward. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:24 ecamera 350( 237) -126 69 20.9 22.1 21.6 21.9 20.9 Clr 1.36 22:20 ecamera 416( 225) -112 59 20.7 20.4 20.8 20.2 20.3 Clr 0.95 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 66 43 13 78 (ENE) 1022 mstly cldy lt rain 17:00 69 41 13 58 (ENE) 905 ptly cldy none 18:00 71 38 8 93 (E) 747 ptly cldy none 19:00 70 38 2 252 (WSW) 767 mstly clr none 20:00 69 37 1 240 (WSW) 886 mstly clr none 21:00 69 36 2 196 (SSW) 981 clear none 22:00 69 34 6 184 (S) 933 mstly clr none 23:00 67 35 10 132 (SE) 908 ptly cldy none 00:00 66 36 1 163 (SSE) 887 mstly cldy none 01:00 57 39 26 67 (ENE) 1098 cloudy rain 02:00 60 34 16 120 (ESE) 764 cloudy lt rain 03:00 59 27 24 66 (ENE) 561 cloudy lt rain 04:00 62 29 23 66 (ENE) 650 cloudy lt rain 05:00 67 30 4 279 (W) 1058 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
