I decided it was safe to open to try to get sky flats. We closed the mirror covers just after the flats finished as clouds moved overhead. I didn't close the building but just waited for a clearing to try to focus. We finally got focused at 21:00 and I turned the telescope over. We still had clouds to deal with. We had a bat and a bird in the intermediate level and dome the other night. I am not sure where the bat went but unfortunately the little bird didn't make it. I found him on the floor of the arcade between the ops building and 3.5m tonight. No telescope problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:58 arctic 473( 1094) 323 62 13.9 14.3 14.9 14.2 13.9 J-C_V 1.06 21:02 NA2gdr 2499(36499) 321 62 14.3 14.3 14.9 14.2 14.0 clear 1.30 01:19 arctic 462( 1066) 147 76 14.9 14.1 14.7 13.7 14.5 ARCTIC_3500 0.94 01:20 NA2gdr 3401(37401) 148 76 15.0 14.1 14.7 13.7 14.5 clear 0.88 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 55 32 7 223 (SW) 997 cloudy lt rain 17:00 59 31 3 196 (SSW) 1042 cloudy lt rain 18:00 60 31 7 157 (SSE) 1012 cloudy none 19:00 58 30 8 129 (SE) 1089 ptly cldy none 20:00 59 30 6 108 (ESE) 1359 ptly cldy none 21:00 58 30 11 93 (E) 1566 ptly cldy none 22:00 58 30 8 107 (ESE) 1665 clear none 23:00 59 30 6 91 (E) 1818 clear none 00:00 60 30 1 100 (E) 1745 clear none 01:00 59 31 6 73 (ENE) 1837 clear none 02:00 58 30 1 149 (SSE) 1804 clear none 03:00 56 30 3 117 (ESE) 2319 clear none 04:00 55 30 7 86 (E) 1604 clear none 05:00 55 30 6 62 (ENE) 1340 clear none 06:00 55 31 5 92 (E) 1116 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
