DIS red also had a very noisy bias. Since DIS is not on tonight, will test it periodically, the assumption being that DIS is just too warm right now. By 20:00 dis red had cleared up. Skies and rain cleared enough that we were able to open at 21:30. Virga was spotted at 01:23 so we closed once again. Waited until 02:26 when the radar was clear enough and opened again. Telescope alt axis started throwing errors. Scope would not even lurch before throwing motion error. Same error up or down. No moths. Did an axis reset; no better. Had Russet log in to diagnose. Moved the scope by hand to known altitude, suddenly things worked again. It should not have worked, but it did. We stayed open the rest of the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FG02 E T/H 02:26 03:00 Altitude axis throwing mysterious errors/overcurrents ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:33 tcamera 200( 1305) 84 75 17.4 20.4 20.7 20.2 18.1 - 1.11 01:20 ecamera 399( 43) 210 51 16.9 16.8 17.3 16.7 16.6 ND4 0.95 03:02 ecamera 356( 103) 77 77 15.1 15.7 16.2 15.4 15.1 clear 0.98 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 76 40 17 275 (W) 2870 ptly cldy none 17:00 74 34 11 264 (W) 1561 mstly cldy none 18:00 71 34 8 309 (NW) 1392 cloudy none 19:00 70 35 5 255 (WSW) 1489 cloudy none 20:00 66 36 15 146 (SE) 2500 ptly cldy none 21:00 64 36 13 136 (SE) 2605 mstly clr none 22:00 63 34 17 154 (SSE) 2684 mstly clr none 23:00 63 34 8 169 (S) 2703 mstly clr none 00:00 64 34 11 185 (S) 2571 mstly clr none 01:00 62 33 15 181 (S) 2034 ptly cldy none 02:00 61 33 13 192 (SSW) 2403 ptly cldy none 03:00 59 32 14 183 (S) 5077 mstly clr none 04:00 58 31 2 175 (S) 4158 mstly clr none 05:00 57 28 17 79 (E) 4631 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
