This was due to the high daytime temperatures (camera was running >200K). Observer did not have a backup instrument, so louvers were opened, int fans run in hopes of cooling camera in time for night. There were showers in the area so we did not open right away at sunset. by 20:45 DIS had cooled enough biases were back to normal. Radar cleared enough such that we opened at 23:00. Unfortuntely, the minute we opened orographics clouds formed over the site. They passed after an hour. Seeing improved markedly after 01:00. We were able to be open the rest of the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 23:14 dcamera 189( 845) 57 41 16.7 18.5 19.0 18.3 16.8 - 1.94 00:24 dcamera 375( 1003) -3 22 16.4 17.5 17.9 17.2 17.1 - 2.43 01:15 ecamera 434( 76) 206 57 16.3 16.8 17.4 16.6 16.2 clear 0.92 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 76 37 6 257 (WSW) 1087 mstly clr none 17:00 75 39 8 257 (WSW) 1132 mstly clr none 18:00 78 37 8 222 (SW) 1049 ptly cldy none 19:00 76 36 6 226 (SW) 957 ptly cldy none 20:00 67 36 13 136 (SE) 1942 mstly clr none 21:00 63 32 12 86 (E) 2453 mstly clr none 22:00 63 30 9 104 (ESE) 2422 ptly cldy none 23:00 61 30 14 114 (ESE) 1874 mstly cldy none 00:00 63 31 8 169 (S) 1995 mstly clr none 01:00 62 30 9 188 (S) 1849 mstly clr none 02:00 60 31 9 183 (S) 1691 mstly clr none 03:00 61 29 14 182 (S) 1736 mstly clr none 04:00 61 30 10 183 (S) 1732 mstly clr none 05:00 60 31 12 184 (S) 1729 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
