Not as bad as what David went through two nights ago but still not great. - nicfps needed an expose init during checkout. - At the start of the night when I was first focusing, the azimuth axis went from guiding to axis enabled. - At 21:27 the hub went down without warning, disconnecting everyone from TUI. I tried restarting tron but it didn't help. I called Russet and Shane and Shane rebooted Tron. After that, everything was good. However, because the hub went down, several instruments disconnected, including dcam, arctic, NA2 guider (which I didn't realize until later). After running some test slews and checking on the tertiary, we were able to return controls back to the user at 22:11. I sent a PR (1958) - When I switched over to B half observer I noticed that ARCTIC was not connected. I had to ssh into the artic-icc and reboot it. This resulted in a qua dropped when I did a hub startNubs and arctic init. The user wanted to use quad mode and moved their target to one of the other quadrants. I lost a few minutes with the reboot. I will address the dropped quad tomorrow during engineering. Given all of that we were still able to get some good science. Since JH01 was observing faint targets and couldn't observe during twilight, we decided to take some spectra of comet NEOWISE for fun. Once it got dark enough we slewed to their target and had good seeing. Clouds rolled in and out but OU01 was able to observe their transit. I finished up the pre-observing training with Mercedes Thompson and she will test out her skills Friday night as UW04's observer. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JH01 DIS T/S 21:27 22:11 hub needed rebooting OU01 arctic T/S 01:18 01:24 arctic-icc reboot ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:46 dcamera 644( 1379) 140 77 19.6 20.7 20.8 20.4 20.0 -- 1.18 21:18 dcamera 580( 1301) 279 57 19.4 20.2 20.4 19.6 19.2 -- 1.22 23:53 dcamera 414( 1081) 11 78 19.1 19.2 19.9 18.9 19.3 -- 1.06 01:49 arctic 483( 1329) 90 38 18.7 18.7 19.5 18.5 18.8 sdss-i 1.59 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 68 43 5 31 (NNE) 459 mstly cldy none 17:00 69 43 6 91 (E) 1040 mstly cldy none 18:00 69 45 11 144 (SE) 480 ptly cldy none 19:00 69 46 8 141 (SE) 459 mstly clr none 20:00 67 44 6 122 (ESE) 492 mstly clr none 21:00 67 43 5 107 (ESE) 418 clear none 22:00 68 42 8 40 (NE) 521 clear none 23:00 67 41 7 89 (E) 399 mstly clr none 00:00 66 41 9 113 (ESE) 417 mstly clr none 01:00 67 40 7 182 (S) 349 mstly clr none 02:00 65 39 9 185 (S) 343 ptly cldy none 03:00 63 38 12 177 (S) 422 mstly clr none 04:00 64 41 10 161 (SSE) 413 mstly clr none 05:00 63 40 5 214 (SW) 400 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
