I tested collimation vs pointing (inconclusive for the effect we were looking for), then got lots of throughput data, then handed over to Venus observations. I had a little trouble with the automated night log script, so a lot of this was done by hand. During the switch to echelle, a clamp failure caused a two-minute delay. Simple to correct, but disturbing since we just addressed this last month. So that may need further investigation. Tomorrow will hopefully be testing of ARCTIC flats, and lots more pointing! ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:15 guider 678( 1726) 50 65 22.2 23.4 23.9 22.9 22.6 B 1.06 23:09 arctic 638( 1616) -30 64 21.5 21.9 22.8 21.7 21.6 SDSS_i 0.89 04:10 ecamera 459( 233) 72 61 19.3 19.6 20.5 19.5 19.3 ND2 0.84 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 82 37 3 299 (WNW) 1341 ptly cldy none 17:00 76 39 6 68 (ENE) 1251 ptly cldy none 18:00 73 37 3 66 (ENE) 1168 ptly cldy none 19:00 77 41 2 195 (SSW) 1118 ptly cldy none 20:00 76 40 2 224 (SW) 1183 ptly cldy none 21:00 73 37 12 131 (SE) 1196 mstly clr none 22:00 73 36 15 161 (SSE) 1220 mstly clr none 23:00 71 35 22 146 (SE) 1212 mstly clr none 00:00 70 33 19 153 (SSE) 1022 clear none 01:00 70 32 17 168 (SSE) 1066 clear none 02:00 69 35 18 181 (S) 1169 clear none 03:00 69 37 12 190 (S) 985 clear none 04:00 67 37 17 219 (SW) 1022 mstly clr none 05:00 65 35 17 207 (SSW) 877 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
