There were multiple motion errors and, at one point, chattering. This caused the rotator to be off by -4.025. I dismounted DIS, zeroed the rotator, and moved the rotator and there were no issues. When I remounted DIS and tested rotation again, there were more motion errors but no chattering. Bill came on site and made some adjustments to the rotator and we had no more issues the rest of the night! Well, except for the fact that, after all that, UV02 didn't even want DIS. We had clear skies all night but there were high winds. Not enough to keep us from observing but everyone wanted to point into the wind!! That being said, seeing was surprisingly good, being subarcsec all night after APOLLO. ...I did forget to record the 0.94" seeing with Echelon after APOLLO. This was the Colgate's class last night and everyone had exhausting fun! At least, when they were awake enough to take exposures, they seemed to be having fun :) ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:34 APOLLO 600( 2024) 25 44 16.2 17.3 17.5 16.8 16.5 530 1.20 23:57 tcamera 482( 1314) 196 84 14.8 14.7 15.3 14.7 14.6 Ks 0.96 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 66 32 20 268 (W) 2104 clear none 17:00 68 31 22 263 (W) 2010 clear none 18:00 67 33 22 270 (W) 2031 clear none 19:00 64 26 18 262 (W) 1992 clear none 20:00 63 31 21 261 (W) 2009 clear none 21:00 61 29 22 256 (WSW) 1809 clear none 22:00 60 29 16 267 (W) 1580 clear none 23:00 59 32 21 276 (W) 1524 clear none 00:00 59 31 17 267 (W) 1345 clear none 01:00 57 31 15 284 (WNW) 1495 clear none 02:00 57 31 16 292 (WNW) 1438 clear none 03:00 56 31 19 268 (W) 1422 clear none 04:00 54 28 16 276 (W) 1315 clear none 05:00 53 31 19 282 (WNW) 1236 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
