The NA2 rotator needed to be reinitialized twice. One altitude drive tracking issue (like PR 1938) immediately after focusing for the A-half observer. Otherwise the telescope cooperated. Unfortunately, clouds started to be an issue during their time and bothered us most of the night, until they cleared up around 3 AM. Engineering tasks completed: -Tested pause/stop exposure behavior on instruments; updated PR 1936. -Checked DIS slitviewer focus vs. spectrograph focus. -Restarted hub and TCC. -Reset az, alt, NA2, and agile rotators. -Zeroed the NA2 (+0.12) and Agile rotators. -Shack-Hartmann collimation checks. -Attempted Betelgeuse spectra with the Echelle with limited success. -Completed a 20-star pointing model in a 3 AM stretch of clear skies, but did not implement it. -Tested TSpec pattern noise at 10-degree rotator increments. No other problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:24 tcamera 458( 839) -30 60 2.6 4.8 5.0 4.3 3.2 Ks 1.42 21:15 dcamera 599( 451) -44 69 1.9 1.8 2.8 2.1 2.0 -- 2.24 21:23 dcamera 573( 428) 63 58 1.9 1.8 2.8 2.0 1.9 -- 2.01 23:42 shack 450( 1039) 63 54 3.1 1.8 2.8 2.3 3.1 -- 1.80 03:31 NA2gdr 6950(36950) 104 61 2.9 2.3 3.3 2.9 2.8 Clear 1.20 Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 41 22 11 284 (WNW) 426 clear none 17:00 41 24 14 237 (WSW) 458 clear none 18:00 42 29 12 239 (WSW) 451 clear none 19:00 38 28 12 228 (SW) 476 mstly clr none 20:00 37 27 11 241 (WSW) 447 ptly cldy none 21:00 36 30 17 223 (SW) 293 mstly cldy none 22:00 35 29 13 232 (SW) 272 mstly cldy none 23:00 38 21 15 265 (W) 258 ptly cldy none 00:00 38 28 16 282 (WNW) 187 ptly cldy none 01:00 38 31 15 273 (W) 175 mstly cldy none 02:00 39 30 16 266 (W) 152 ptly cldy none 03:00 37 31 11 256 (WSW) 171 clear none 04:00 38 32 13 264 (W) clear none 05:00 37 32 11 263 (W) clear humid 06:00 37 32 12 241 (WSW) clear humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
