There was no chance of opening tonight (rain, fog, wind, more fog, but no snow), so Russet and I did some engineering. To test the dark current with temp, we lowered the ARCTIC temperature set point from 182 (actual temp 183.5) to 178.5 (actual temp 180.2). I took darks before and after the temperature change with exposure times of 2, 3, 5, 10, 20, 30, 60, 120, 180, 300, 900 in Quad, Fast mode. I tested the pattern noise on Tspec by doing a bunch of rotation while continuously taking darks. The pattern noise is still there and still seems to be worse while the instrument is upside down, but it looks better than it was. I sent and email with more details. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 41 32 22 245 (WSW) 343 cloudy humid 17:00 39 32 22 260 (W) cloudy lt rain 18:00 37 32 24 268 (W) cloudy lt rain 19:00 38 31 22 262 (W) cloudy humid 20:00 39 31 24 284 (WNW) cloudy humid 21:00 38 31 20 270 (W) cloudy humid 22:00 37 32 16 258 (WSW) cloudy humid 23:00 38 32 23 263 (W) cloudy humid 00:00 37 32 24 246 (WSW) cloudy lt rain 01:00 36 32 27 238 (WSW) cloudy lt rain 02:00 36 32 29 239 (WSW) cloudy lt rain 03:00 36 31 30 236 (SW) cloudy lt rain 04:00 37 31 26 250 (WSW) cloudy fog Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
