I added 0.5 hr to JH01 and subtracted 0.5 hr from UW08 in the above scheduled section. Some high clouds during the afternoon checkout, which stayed away for most of A half until they returned around midnight. The telescope started having significant trouble tracking targets in the west at high altitude due to pointing directly into the wind; the altitude motor current pegged itself multiple times at -9.93 amps, but did not trigger an overcurrent error, around 00:15. We switched targets and avoided pointing straight west for the rest of the night. The clouds stuck around, but stayed thin. The DIS grating turret does not always home properly on the first try in order to reach the detent 2100 setting we settled on last night. During afternoon calibrations for the A-half observer, switching from lowres to highres resulted in a detent value of ~3300. A turret home put it at 740, and it took another home to get back to 2100. There were no issues with switching to lowres for the B-half observer. No other problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:11 tcamera 380( 847) 21 61 4.1 6.7 6.8 6.7 4.9 Ks 1.26 19:45 dcamera 509( 509) -120 34 4.7 4.5 5.1 4.4 4.3 -- 1.63 00:49 dcamera 520( 481) -29 69 4.4 4.2 4.6 4.1 4.5 -- 1.04 02:09 dcamera 448( 398) 117 35 3.5 3.4 3.9 3.2 3.2 -- 2.07 05:42 APOLLO 400( 1119) 31 35 2.7 2.1 3.1 2.4 2.7 530 1.40 Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 43 11 13 276 (W) 94 clear none 17:00 43 11 17 248 (WSW) 87 mstly clr none 18:00 40 12 12 244 (WSW) 150 clear none 19:00 40 12 19 243 (WSW) 151 clear none 20:00 40 11 16 250 (WSW) 166 clear none 21:00 40 11 17 245 (WSW) 166 clear none 22:00 42 16 18 265 (W) 138 clear none 23:00 41 17 16 265 (W) 133 mstly clr none 00:00 41 18 15 264 (W) 130 mstly clr none 01:00 39 18 15 267 (W) 164 mstly clr none 02:00 38 20 8 289 (WNW) 152 mstly clr none 03:00 39 19 12 306 (NW) 113 mstly clr none 04:00 39 19 13 296 (WNW) 122 mstly clr none 05:00 38 19 18 302 (WNW) 108 mstly clr none 06:00 36 20 8 304 (NW) 93 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
