The truss lamps were not responding via TUI. I attempted to restart the lampd daemon but it failed to restart. After talking with several people, it's just going to need more trouble shooting. A PR was sent. I'm having to command the truss lamps via command line until things are fixed. It was clear all night but the seeing was AWFUL, getting as high as 4.5". Then there was the wind, that gusted near 45mph, causing us to close for an hour and a half. During this time, ARCSAT ran into a limit and I had to go push the mount to get it to slew again. After some group troubleshooting, we found out that the clock was off by several hours. Once that was corrected, everything was fine on arcsat. Back to the 3.5m. Yeah, things got very cold tonight, below -11 C, with strong winds. Cold enough that the arctic shutter stopped working. I tried to reset it many, many times but it was no good. I wouldn't only get one or two exposures to work before it stopped again. The UW04 user tried to utilize agile but, after changing to agile, the secondary mirror did not complete the move properly. Russet was able to bring it back but UW04 really did need arctic, so at 01:18 they donated their remaining time to WY02. WY02 was able to use the time and, magically, the wind calmed down, things warmed up a hair, seeing got better (below 2"!) and we were able to observe without any more problems. Around 5am, the 3.5m Optidew sensor (the one mirrored to the 2.5m) decided to...freeze over? It's currently reporting 100% when it's very much not humid outside. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UW04 Arctic I/H 00:10 00:35 Shutter stuck due to cold UW04 Agile T/H 00:37 01:07 Secondary mirror didn't move properly ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:01 dcamera 302( -143) -43 73 -8.3 -4.6 -3.8 -5.2 -7.4 -- 2.96 18:42 dcamera 373( -172) -65 49 -9.4 -6.9 -6.0 -7.7 -9.0 -- 3.95 20:32 dcamera 492( -226) -112 74 -10.7 -10.2 -9.2 -10.3 -10.5 -- 2.46 22:06 dcamera 369( -357) -108 38 -11.2 -10.9 -10.1 -10.9 -11.1 -- 4.55 23:32 dcamera 464( -275) -114 39 -10.5 -11.2 -10.4 -11.2 -10.8 -- 2.60 01:50 tcamera 400( 46) 147 65 -9.8 -10.7 -10.2 -10.5 -9.6 MK-s 1.52 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 24 -1 15 28 (NNE) 1000 clear none 17:00 20 -5 24 14 (NNE) 940 clear none 18:00 17 -9 6 287 (WNW) 552 clear none 19:00 14 -14 15 350 (N) 417 clear none 20:00 13 -13 16 12 (NNE) 476 clear none 21:00 12 -12 18 22 (NNE) 293 clear none 22:00 12 -12 16 29 (NNE) 156 clear none 23:00 13 -13 9 15 (NNE) 122 clear none 00:00 13 -15 14 351 (N) 126 clear none 01:00 13 -16 11 20 (NNE) 96 clear none 02:00 15 -18 18 35 (NE) 87 clear none 03:00 14 -25 12 5 (N) 114 clear none 04:00 20 -24 6 39 (NE) 46 clear none 05:00 19 -26 10 55 (NE) clear none 06:00 19 -25 9 1 (N) clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
