We imaged the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn with ARCSAT. Aside from ARCSAT having a camera timeout, where fixing it required a detour through FocusMax failing to find licensing information and closing itself repeatedly (I fixed it by running the focusmax.exe in the Program Files, not the desktop shortcut), the night went fairly smoothly. At least until sunrise, at which point ARCSAT refused to take sky flats because "Tracking has been stopped." and the camera was stuck in an odd state, where it wouldn't expose, but it would respond to other commands like "stop" in Maxim or changing binning. We did manage to troubleshoot enough to get it to take dome flats, though. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:32 dcamera 484( 428) 147 75 2.5 3.8 4.0 3.9 2.7 -- 1.12 20:05 dcamera 541( 426) 135 52 2.9 2.3 3.2 2.8 3.1 -- 1.84 20:20 dcamera 506( 399) 110 41 3.4 2.3 3.2 2.8 3.2 -- 1.63 00:33 arctic 546( 646) -68 23 3.3 2.5 3.7 3.1 4.1 SDSS_r 2.30 04:15 tcamera 477( 840) 37 54 6.3 4.5 5.0 4.5 5.5 Ks 1.28 Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 37 -6 18 357 (N) 178 clear none 17:00 37 -9 31 11 (N) 129 clear none 18:00 37 2 20 4 (N) 129 clear none 19:00 37 4 21 16 (NNE) 120 clear none 20:00 38 4 12 356 (N) 138 clear none 21:00 38 4 21 11 (N) 135 clear none 22:00 38 6 24 5 (N) 109 clear none 23:00 36 7 19 10 (N) 125 clear none 00:00 37 14 9 39 (NE) 38 clear none 01:00 40 13 5 28 (NNE) 22 clear none 02:00 43 12 9 17 (NNE) 28 clear none 03:00 42 11 6 353 (N) 33 clear none 04:00 43 12 3 22 (NNE) 28 clear none 05:00 44 10 10 340 (NNW) 25 clear none 06:00 44 12 9 29 (NNE) 26 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
