While the weather was clear for A half (thin clouds all of B), the seeing was terrible for A half. It improved a great deal in the IR for B half (sub-arcsecond!) but then NICFPS started having problems. I had to do four inits (rotation started around +80 and tracked back towards 0) and then nicfps started throwing a "failed to take exposure" error in the middle of a dither script. It finally hung all together and I was not able to connect to the computer. Looking in the computer room I found that the computer would not turn on. Luckily, the user was able to switch to ARCTIC so we only lost 0.6 hours instead of the rest of B half. A PR was sent and Tracey will be looking at the computer tomorrow. Added to this, gcam gave a strange USB error when we switched to nicfps (PR was sent). Restarting the nubs fixed the problem. Russet would like to add "The recently repaired APOLLO GPS clock worked perfectly." ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JH06 Nicfps I/H 01:55 02:33 Nicfps computer died ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:25 ecamera 512( -221) 197 40 8.8 8.5 9.2 8.4 8.6 Clear 2.51 22:44 ecamera 475( -286) 219 47 8.3 8.1 8.8 8.0 8.2 Clear 2.55 00:27 NICFPS 315( 1126) -6 71 8.3 7.8 8.4 7.7 8.0 MKs 0.83 02:40 arctic 517( 824) -68 53 8.7 7.5 8.1 7.2 7.9 sdss-i 1.38 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 54 18 8 116 (ESE) 405 clear none 17:00 51 17 7 98 (E) 476 clear none 18:00 49 18 14 81 (E) 511 clear none 19:00 48 18 16 81 (E) 447 clear none 20:00 48 20 10 91 (E) 467 clear none 21:00 48 21 15 87 (E) 680 clear none 22:00 48 21 16 105 (ESE) 621 clear none 23:00 47 22 18 110 (ESE) 655 mstly clr none 00:00 47 19 14 113 (ESE) 927 mstly clr none 01:00 48 17 17 117 (ESE) 800 mstly clr none 02:00 47 15 16 119 (ESE) 753 mstly clr none 03:00 46 15 16 138 (SE) 645 mstly clr none 04:00 46 17 19 145 (SE) 668 mstly clr none 05:00 46 18 20 149 (SSE) 657 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
