There appears to be a splat of bird poop in the upper left quadrant of M1. With the OU01 program tracking downwards in the west from high altitude, the current on the altitude drive was high (variously between -5 and -9 amps). We did not lose tracking, overcurrent, or trigger a motion error at any point. However, small amounts of drift were noticeable in the guide star centroid between 3-second guide exposures, and after about four hours on the same target, the alt guide offset had reached a value of about 30 arcseconds. I cleaned moth gunk off the alt drive during afternoon checkout, which might have helped a bit. Otherwise, no problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:09 dcamera 583( 1180) 132 34 14.9 17.2 16.9 16.6 14.9 -- 1.46 20:32 dcamera 483( 981) 133 49 15.1 15.3 15.5 14.7 14.7 -- 1.31 21:28 arctic 418( 1039) 222 67 15.1 14.3 14.7 13.7 14.0 SDSS_i 0.94 02:38 APOLLO 350( 1560) 67 58 14.2 12.9 13.6 12.7 13.4 530 1.00 04:00 ecamera 431( -118) -11 70 13.8 12.9 13.6 12.7 13.2 Clear 0.78 Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 64 20 9 267 (W) 1273 clear none 17:00 62 19 3 275 (W) 1202 clear none 18:00 61 18 12 314 (NW) 1245 clear none 19:00 59 17 10 298 (WNW) 1351 clear none 20:00 59 18 7 273 (W) 1261 clear none 21:00 60 19 5 258 (WSW) 1484 clear none 22:00 59 19 5 215 (SW) 1683 clear none 23:00 59 19 5 250 (WSW) 1816 clear none 00:00 58 18 2 172 (S) 2013 clear none 01:00 58 17 5 160 (SSE) 1988 clear none 02:00 57 18 5 184 (S) 1953 clear none 03:00 58 17 1 195 (SSW) 1951 clear none 04:00 57 14 2 302 (WNW) 1730 clear none 05:00 57 14 5 360 (N) 1541 clear none 06:00 57 14 9 8 (N) 1488 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
