Seeing was moderate for several hours until about midnight, and then really bad after midnight, and then back to just pretty bad. NICFPS needed one expose init and two ICS restarts first half while I was trying to exercise it (but I couldn't really rotate once we were on sky with echelle), and then two expose inits and one ICS restart during second half - two of those were right after the first slew while I was trying to focus. Once observing really got underway there was only one failure. It's hard to say if the instrument is getting more temperamental, but the phenomenon of settling down after a while seems the same as it was months ago, so that might be some kind of clue. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:46 ecamera 636( 35) -13 28 10.6 11.1 11.3 10.9 10.7 Clr 1.56 21:56 ecamera 513( -189) -7 46 9.3 9.3 9.9 9.2 9.3 ND1 1.44 01:30 NICFPS 280( 1028) 15 57 5.7 6.3 7.1 6.2 5.8 Ks 2.56 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 53 15 1 225 (SW) 186 ptly cldy none 17:00 52 17 7 28 (NNE) 217 ptly cldy none 18:00 53 12 18 29 (NNE) 97 ptly cldy none 19:00 51 10 11 53 (NE) 136 ptly cldy none 20:00 51 13 15 78 (ENE) 190 ptly cldy none 21:00 50 16 10 85 (E) 244 ptly cldy none 22:00 49 22 9 88 (E) 354 ptly cldy none 23:00 48 24 15 77 (ENE) 411 ptly cldy none 00:00 46 22 22 75 (ENE) 395 ptly cldy none 01:00 44 20 18 81 (E) 293 ptly cldy none 01:00 41 20 24 77 (ENE) 231 ptly cldy none 02:00 41 24 21 86 (E) 275 ptly cldy none 03:00 40 24 19 85 (E) 264 ptly cldy none 04:00 41 25 20 93 (E) 279 ptly cldy none 05:00 40 24 15 92 (E) 312 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
