First half, the variations caused some trouble with guiding but only needed longer exposure times to deliver science. Second half, the clouds were more uniform but the targets were fainter, so eventually the observer ran out of reachable targets and we closed before morning twilight. There was a sometimes-brisk west wind, not gusting above 30 mph but enough to have caused altitude problems over the last several months. I watched the telescope telemetry showing both az and alt working against the wind without ever getting to excessive current, and the delivered images looked nice and steady. Although it's always hard to compare one situation against another, this looks like a substantial improvement in behavior thanks to the work on the altitude drive earlier in the month. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 01:14 dcamera 530( 830) -115 77 11.9 11.4 11.8 11.5 11.8 - 1.15 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 54 30 18 273 (W) 1026 ptly cldy none 17:00 53 30 13 263 (W) 1219 ptly cldy none 18:00 51 32 15 263 (W) 1456 ptly cldy none 19:00 52 30 14 261 (W) 1250 ptly cldy none 20:00 53 28 16 267 (W) 1032 ptly cldy none 21:00 53 27 25 268 (W) 807 ptly cldy none 22:00 53 25 18 268 (W) 633 ptly cldy none 23:00 53 22 25 283 (WNW) 445 ptly cldy none 00:00 53 20 25 270 (W) 354 ptly cldy none 01:00 53 20 22 275 (W) 364 ptly cldy none 02:00 53 21 24 270 (W) 368 ptly cldy none 03:00 52 24 26 282 (WNW) 540 ptly cldy none 04:00 51 25 22 282 (WNW) 665 ptly cldy none 05:00 50 28 18 269 (W) 784 ptly cldy none 06:00 49 28 25 265 (W) 714 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
