We were in the N/NW (moving between az 196 - 206 and alt around 75) and the tracking started having trouble around 19:20, with the current slowly increasing to -10 A and then losing tracking. It would happen about every 5-10 min for over an hour, but once we got a little lower (or perhaps as things got cooler?) it stopped. As soon as the tracking was lost I would slew below the field and slew back to target. On nearly every slew downward there would be a motion error in alt after moving about 1 degree and I cleared with an axis init. I believe the issue stopped around 21:00 and there were no other issues for the rest of the night. Things started out clear but there were high clouds rolling it. It got thicker around midnight but was never bad enough to inhibit observing. Seeing was excellent, at least! ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:08 ecamera 567( 171) 186 75 13.4 16.1 15.2 15.5 14.0 ND1 1.00 19:55 ecamera 444( -19) 210 75 13.4 14.8 14.4 14.1 13.2 ND1 0.79 01:13 ecamera 471( -100) -8 59 12.8 12.3 12.9 12.3 12.6 ND1 0.85 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 65 22 11 270 (W) 859 mstly clr none 17:00 64 21 9 227 (SW) 784 mstly clr none 18:00 61 20 4 232 (SW) 841 mstly clr none 19:00 56 20 5 188 (S) 791 ptly cldy none 20:00 56 20 9 217 (SW) 916 ptly cldy none 21:00 56 20 11 215 (SW) 1288 mstly cldy none 22:00 57 20 6 191 (S) 1151 mstly cldy none 23:00 57 19 8 217 (SW) 1189 ptly cldy none 00:00 55 19 7 195 (SSW) 1104 ptly cldy none 01:00 55 21 10 192 (SSW) 1821 ptly cldy none 02:00 54 21 9 190 (S) 855 mstly cldy none 03:00 53 19 5 185 (S) 798 mstly cldy none 04:00 53 18 9 211 (SSW) 706 ptly cldy none 05:00 52 17 4 164 (SSE) 749 mstly clr none 06:00 55 17 5 194 (SSW) 823 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
