A “nicfps expose init” fixed the issue. I tested the agile rotator as well and there were no problems. The intermediate floor door was left open (I assume after a delivery of LN2 today) so I went ahead an closed it. We had tons of fog all night that never went away, with some smattering of rain here and there. It never snowed so I did not run the snow program or park the dome south. But, there was never any hope of observing. We are at the edge of the front so hopefully we'll be able to open tomorrow! I ran a bunch of NICFPS rotations to test the behavior of the exposures. I had three instances of corrupted images (which are described in PR 1928). They all occurred as NICFPS was rotating and the first two happened almost immediately after the first rotation. There was no issue while mounting the instrument. Keaton Bell officially started his observing tonight. He might not have gotten on sky but he went through another marathon firehouse training session, practicing with multiple instruments. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 37 32 15 177 (S) cloudy fog 17:00 35 31 16 196 (SSW) cloudy fog 18:00 35 32 20 224 (SW) cloudy fog 19:00 35 32 27 219 (SW) cloudy lt rain 20:00 35 32 20 222 (SW) cloudy lt rain 21:00 34 31 32 183 (S) cloudy lt rain 22:00 35 32 22 198 (SSW) cloudy lt rain 23:00 35 32 19 196 (SSW) cloudy fog 00:00 35 32 19 235 (SW) cloudy fog 01:00 34 31 16 245 (WSW) cloudy fog 02:00 33 32 20 237 (WSW) cloudy fog 03:00 33 32 16 241 (WSW) cloudy fog 04:00 33 32 30 226 (SW) cloudy fog 05:00 33 32 21 259 (W) cloudy fog Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
