By midway through first half the observer wasn't able to do any planned science. We tried taking some spectra of Betelgeuse but eventually even that was clouded out. We waited for a while with mirror covers closed until radar appeared around 23:00, then I closed the dome. Between the clouds and the radar we didn't have a chance of opening second half. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- FAILURE MODE TIME PROG INSTR TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:38 tcamera 555( 847) 71 35 3.6 5.7 5.7 5.5 4.5 Ks 1.31 19:07 ecamera 323( -604) -48 27 3.7 4.2 4.5 3.8 3.8 Clear 1.26 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 42 -3 5 264 (W) 165 ptly cldy none 17:00 41 -6 14 299 (WNW) 198 ptly cldy none 18:00 40 -5 10 262 (W) 193 ptly cldy none 19:00 38 -3 7 231 (SW) 219 ptly cldy none 20:00 37 -1 12 234 (SW) 271 mstly cldy none 21:00 39 -3 14 235 (SW) 139 mstly cldy none 22:00 39 -3 13 254 (WSW) 102 cloudy none 23:00 41 -3 19 248 (WSW) 122 cloudy lt snow 00:00 40 -3 14 264 (W) 171 cloudy none 01:00 40 -2 15 268 (W) 189 cloudy none 02:00 40 0 11 262 (W) 195 cloudy none 03:00 38 4 12 265 (W) 212 cloudy none 04:00 39 3 11 268 (W) 266 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
