We used the echelle all night so, naturally, we were a bit nervous about ecam behavior. However, everything went smoothly! For A half. We aren't 5 min into B half when ecam starts making the bad, off set images. The first image was proc-e2189 at 01:14am. Naturally, I went into a screaming panic because it was at that point that potential fog started rolling in and the humidity was hitting 85%. I tried using Bill's troubleshooting steps (as described in the wiki) and jumped to step 19 as instructed but could not get the camera to return. Admittedly, I only attempted one kill and restart of the camera because, luckily, GS02's targets were *so* bright that I could clearly see the star inside the offset slit. So, I went on with Manual guiding and occasionally nudged the star back into place. We decided to go with this plan of Manual guiding and nudging until, for no reason that I can determine, ecam "fixed" itself and everything was fine the rest of the night. This occurred at 02:20 am and the first good image was proc-e2755. No time was lost. I attempted to subframe ecam as instructed by Russet but it did not help. We were given the error message: xpose failed: Traceback (most recent call last): I added this information to the audit trail. Aside from the horrible humidity and occasional clouds, the seeing was good and everyone was able to get their data! ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:47 ecamera 465( 188) 124 36 15.5 18.2 17.9 17.7 16.1 ND2 1.01 19:26 ecamera 444( 100) 122 43 15.0 16.8 16.9 16.2 15.4 ND1 1.10 00:10 ecamera 360( -143) 215 75 13.3 13.9 14.4 13.6 13.3 Clear 0.83 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 67 44 9 289 (WNW) 159 ptly cldy none 17:00 69 43 6 273 (W) 196 ptly cldy none 18:00 65 40 5 271 (W) 244 ptly cldy none 19:00 62 40 6 16 (NNE) 206 mstly clr none 20:00 59 46 10 112 (ESE) 171 ptly cldy none 21:00 59 44 10 109 (ESE) 162 ptly cldy none 22:00 60 43 12 145 (SE) 166 mstly clr none 23:00 59 45 15 127 (SE) 204 mstly clr none 00:00 58 46 8 139 (SE) 187 ptly cldy humid 01:00 57 49 14 143 (SE) 206 ptly cldy humid 02:00 56 52 11 140 (SE) ptly cldy humid 03:00 55 51 9 125 (SE) mstly clr humid 04:00 56 49 10 112 (ESE) 286 mstly clr none 05:00 58 44 10 119 (ESE) 187 mstly clr none 06:00 57 39 2 124 (SE) 200 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
