Conditions were starting to improve around midnight but then we had an outflow from another storm, so that humidity spike and strong winds kept us closed an additional hour or so. The second half program was able to catch most of their ingress and egress, although clouds did interfere with the middle portion of the transit. But basically it was a less-bad night than seemed likely at the beginning. Almost all tracking was on a single target coming down from high altitude in the west, most of it with the wind coming from the east. The current profile was reasonable and the accumulated guide offsets were acceptable over a 5-hour period. There was a power outage at 5:47 am, interruptikng a slew to skyflat position. The observer was able to take his flats with the telescope stationary so there was actually no impact on observations. Once flats were done, I decided to park the telescope in place. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 02:04 arctic 300( 869) -94 70 11.1 13.2 14.0 12.9 11.8 g 3.50 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 61 42 15 71 (ENE) 264 cloudy rain 17:00 60 50 19 76 (ENE) 336 cloudy rain 18:00 61 46 16 76 (ENE) 302 cloudy rain 19:00 63 35 7 70 (ENE) 157 cloudy lt rain 20:00 56 44 23 20 (NNE) 302 cloudy lt rain 21:00 55 44 31 25 (NNE) 149 cloudy none 22:00 58 39 23 32 (NNE) 111 mstly cldy none 23:00 59 37 9 305 (NW) 124 ptly cldy none 00:00 61 35 3 139 (SE) 137 mstly cldy none 01:00 53 43 16 88 (E) 952 mstly cldy none 02:00 52 44 19 75 (ENE) 351 ptly cldy none 03:00 53 43 8 180 (S) 513 ptly cldy none 04:00 58 43 7 180 (S) 502 ptly cldy none 05:00 58 44 10 143 (SE) 437 mstly clr none 06:00 59 43 5 185 (S) 436 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
