Dust spikes and borderline humidity, plus nearby radar returns, kept us from opening until 9:05 PM. The sky cleared fairly quickly at around 9:30 PM, and stayed clear for about an hour. Clouds came back with a vengeance by 10:45 and continued to be an issue. Closed at 12:50 due to light precipitation forming nearby in the south, and clouds starting to form over us that carried the threat of rain. We reopened an hour later at 1:50 AM, and stayed open the rest of the night. The observer closed up around morning twilight. No problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:21 arctic 93( 1142) 102 17 17.7 20.4 20.3 20.2 18.1 SDSS r 2.66 22:25 arctic 318( 1239) 94 30 16.7 17.9 18.3 17.2 17.0 SDSS r 1.34 01:57 arctic 305( 1128) 43 72 16.6 16.6 17.0 16.6 16.4 SDSS g 0.97 Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 70 42 5 266 (W) 347 ptly cldy none 17:00 69 43 4 111 (ESE) 348 mstly cldy none 18:00 70 41 1 233 (SW) 312 mstly cldy none 19:00 69 43 3 255 (WSW) 313 mstly cldy none 20:00 65 45 5 353 (N) 2567 mstly cldy dust 21:00 64 45 10 128 (SE) 1967 mstly clr none 22:00 62 37 10 117 (ESE) 709 ptly cldy none 23:00 62 34 7 113 (ESE) 619 mstly cldy none 00:00 64 42 5 57 (ENE) 805 ptly cldy none 01:00 62 38 3 261 (W) 694 mstly cldy none 02:00 62 37 1 259 (W) 590 ptly cldy none 03:00 62 35 2 206 (SSW) 586 ptly cldy none 04:00 60 35 3 178 (S) 592 ptly cldy none 05:00 61 34 5 111 (ESE) 565 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
