By 20:30 it had cleared out. Stayed clear all night. For NM05 program, filter appeared mis-aligned (diagonal oval illumination pattern). After many tests, determined that open mirror cover flats produce this pattern with the 3250A filter, closed mirror cover flats produce symmetric (normal/typical) illumination. Clouds began to form around 04:00. We were open all night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NM05 R I/U 01:20 02:11 Filter problem, resolved ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:18 arctic 514( 1304) 87 56 11.9 14.4 14.4 14.0 12.4 SDSS_r 0.98 22:48 dcamera 564( 970) -31 59 11.9 11.9 12.5 11.8 12.0 - 0.97 02:20 arctic 517( 1107) 164 61 11.2 10.6 11.2 10.5 10.8 3250 0.89 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 59 16 8 282 (WNW) 444 clear none 17:00 60 15 5 195 (SSW) 498 mstly clr none 18:00 58 15 7 259 (W) 541 mstly clr none 19:00 56 11 16 225 (SW) 423 mstly clr none 20:00 54 10 19 232 (SW) 496 clear none 21:00 54 11 16 244 (WSW) 508 clear none 22:00 54 11 14 258 (WSW) 475 clear none 23:00 54 11 11 246 (WSW) 504 clear none 00:00 53 10 10 261 (W) 517 clear none 01:00 52 9 14 276 (W) 528 clear none 02:00 52 11 15 298 (WNW) 574 clear none 03:00 53 12 10 294 (WNW) 597 clear none 04:00 52 13 14 312 (NW) 524 ptly cldy none 05:00 52 13 11 328 (NNW) 630 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
