The star was there, but the shadow was not. C'est la vie. ARCSAT ran into similar issues as last night with the 'dumbbell' shaped stars. Russet's thought is that it is a balancing issue, and noted that we apparently see similar issues around this time every year. I wonder if there's moths in the gears or something. Turning on the guider did not solve the issue. UW05 stopped around 12:40 local. CU06 started slightly early, at 12:52 local. Was focusing (having trouble with clouds) until 1:11 when science exposures started. Clouds continued to be an issue for the next hour or so, but were mostly just hanging on the horizon by 3 AM. ARCSAT closed up around 2:50 since the tracking issue couldn't be solved. The rest of the night was uneventful. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:29 AGILE 584( -765) 55 62 14.4 15.7 15.9 15.3 14.7 SDSS i 1.16 22:23 ecamera 432( 110) 27 25 13.4 13.7 14.2 13.4 13.4 Clear 1.26 00:11 tcamera 450( 1229) 1 33 13.6 12.9 13.4 12.6 13.0 Ks 1.62 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 65 24 28 251 (WSW) 446 clear none 17:00 62 25 16 212 (SSW) 442 clear none 18:00 64 26 25 214 (SW) 457 clear none 19:00 63 28 18 227 (SW) 588 clear none 20:00 59 26 13 225 (SW) 660 clear none 21:00 59 26 12 224 (SW) 701 clear none 22:00 58 25 6 251 (WSW) 900 clear none 23:00 56 20 6 266 (W) 647 mstly clr none 00:00 57 18 6 281 (W) 419 ptly cldy none 01:00 56 18 6 264 (W) 319 ptly cldy none 02:00 56 17 4 229 (SW) 279 mstly clr none 03:00 55 17 6 228 (SW) 283 clear none 04:00 55 18 7 260 (W) 278 clear none 05:00 53 18 11 219 (SW) 323 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
