More afternoon thunderstorms that cleared before sunset and we were able to stay open the whole night! There were some clouds at the beginning but cleared up fast and we had excellent seeing. Russet was kind enough to let UV02 use the first 6 hours of the night to observe one of their transits. They had a lot of fun and did a great job and now Mary Brewer is now trained. I...I have to admit...we mounted the eyepiece and for the first hour of the night and gazed at the moon. It was training!! The trainees demanded we do so. Engineering consisted of: restarting the hub and tcc Restarting axis controllers Zeroing the rotator (-0.020) Collimation - no changes done throughput and skyflats with ARCTIC No problems tonight but a lot of fun! ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:04 arctic 540( 1220) 242 70 11.5 12.4 12.5 11.9 11.2 sdss-g 0.87 02:01 shack 500( 1594) 112 61 9.9 9.7 10.2 9.6 9.7 -- 1.00 02:42 arctic 524( 1081) -49 58 10.6 9.9 10.3 9.8 10.7 sdss-i 0.76 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 53 22 15 77 (ENE) 473 mstly cldy none 17:00 54 31 2 319 (NW) 472 ptly cldy none 18:00 57 31 1 260 (W) 455 ptly cldy none 19:00 58 31 3 263 (W) 528 ptly cldy none 20:00 53 31 5 89 (E) 508 mstly clr none 21:00 53 32 10 132 (SE) 566 clear none 22:00 53 28 6 155 (SSE) 673 mstly clr none 23:00 50 29 11 114 (ESE) 636 clear none 00:00 49 28 9 86 (E) 621 clear none 01:00 51 27 1 153 (SSE) 635 mstly clr none 02:00 53 27 5 204 (SSW) 648 clear none 03:00 50 27 8 195 (SSW) 657 clear none 04:00 51 29 9 206 (SSW) 595 clear none 05:00 51 25 9 187 (S) 628 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
