The sky gave us (mostly) clear views of the stars, with good seeing and an easy breeze. CU02's object became quiet low and she donated 19 of her minutes to UW02. UW02 could not go far into twilight and he too donated the hour before sunrise. But where was there an observer to be found who could use such time? Venus was not up. Ah! But the Kepler field was rising! And NM07 was able to drop in and gladly accepted the twilight time that was donated. And was happy. No problems tonight. ----------- Once there was a telescope... and she loved the observers. And everyday the observers would come and they would gather the photons and make them into data and play PI of the lyman alpha forest. The telescope was happy. But time went by. And the night grew colder. And the telescope was left alone. Then the next observer came to the telescope and the telescope said "Come, observer, come and climb up the skies and slew from my azimuth and grab photons and play in my sky and be happy." "I am happy to climb and slew" said the observer. "I want to see things and have fun. I want some funding." "I'm sorry," said the telescope, "but I have no funding. I have only mirrors and photons. Take my photons, observer, and publish them in the city. Then you will have funding and you will be happy." And so the observer gathered her photons and carried them away. And the telescope was happy. But the observer was not on for very long and the telescope was sad. And after a long time an observer came back again. "I am sorry, observer" said the telescope, "but I have only twilight left to give you." "I don't need very much now," said the observer "just a couple spectra before I rest. I am very tired." "Well," said the telescope, slewing herself up as much as she could, "well, some twilight spectra is good for science and resting Come, observer, sit down. Observe and rest." And the observer did. And the telescope was happy ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:09 tcamera 581( 1465) 54 29 12.8 14.9 15.1 14.6 13.3 Ks 1.01 02:31 ecamera 561( 89) -8 30 11.1 10.8 11.4 10.8 10.8 ND1 1.15 04:08 ecamera 505( -45) 129 75 10.2 9.9 10.6 9.8 9.8 ND1 1.30 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 63 19 27 253 (WSW) 408 mstly clr none 17:00 63 19 20 231 (SW) 455 mstly clr none 18:00 60 16 24 253 (WSW) 581 mstly clr none 19:00 58 14 23 264 (W) 484 mstly clr none 20:00 55 12 25 264 (W) 618 mstly clr none 21:00 55 12 25 260 (W) 587 clear none 22:00 54 13 21 261 (W) 573 clear none 23:00 54 12 18 267 (W) 433 clear none 00:00 54 12 19 273 (W) 500 clear none 01:00 53 12 17 276 (W) 486 mstly clr none 02:00 53 11 16 288 (WNW) 421 clear none 03:00 52 11 17 278 (W) 459 clear none 04:00 51 12 14 279 (W) 455 clear none 05:00 50 14 16 293 (WNW) 471 clear none 06:00 51 14 12 312 (NW) 458 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
