Did not perform test slews during chekcout due to high winds. Winds slowed down enough we could open at 19:00. We observed for a few hours, but then dust spiked around 20:30 and we had to close again. The dust went away, but winds stayed high until 00:30. As winds dropped, precip appeared just to the north of us on radar. It was headed our way, but dried up before getting here. Unfortunately, the clouds from this stuck around, as we found when we opened. We could not even get a focus star. We staryed open in the hopes a hole would form or the clouds would break. It eventually cleared enough to get data, and we stayed open until twilight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:15 arctic 699( 970) 36 49 6.8 8.1 8.3 7.9 7.0 J-C_U 2.16 04:46 ecamera 649( -406) -53 69 2.0 1.9 2.8 2.5 2.1 ND4 1.50 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 51 18 27 236 (SW) 701 ptly cldy none 17:00 47 17 29 247 (WSW) 838 ptly cldy none 18:00 45 18 22 253 (WSW) 780 mstly cldy none 19:00 45 18 25 269 (W) 506 cloudy none 20:00 45 18 22 246 (WSW) 697 cloudy dust 21:00 43 23 19 271 (W) 9660 cloudy dust 22:00 42 25 26 273 (W) 8043 cloudy dust 23:00 41 25 21 275 (W) 1241 cloudy none 00:00 39 27 25 263 (W) 778 cloudy none 01:00 37 28 19 264 (W) 471 ptly cldy none 02:00 36 28 22 290 (WNW) 689 ptly cldy none 03:00 36 26 19 309 (NW) 260 cloudy none 04:00 36 27 14 283 (WNW) 126 cloudy none 05:00 35 27 15 300 (WNW) 116 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
