Gradually the conditions improved to borderline, at the same time the temperature dropped precipitously. DIS was not working tonight, so the first program had to change their plans, but the weather didn't improve until second half anyway. We were able to open for a while at 2 am, with poor seeing and variable clouds and some wind restrictions, and then we had to close when humidity went up again. The inside dewpoint sensor was reporting nonphysical numbers. The ARCTIC shutter continued to work down to a dome temperature of -10.2 C, then failed at -10.5 C. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 02:05 arctic 452( -52) 50 65 -10.3 -7.0 -5.7 -7.6 -9.4 VR 2.05 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 28 22 36 250 (WSW) cloudy lt snow 17:00 28 24 20 253 (WSW) cloudy none 18:00 26 22 29 254 (WSW) cloudy none 19:00 22 20 26 289 (WNW) cloudy humid 20:00 20 19 26 274 (W) cloudy humid 21:00 19 18 30 275 (W) cloudy humid 22:00 18 16 32 272 (W) cloudy humid 23:00 17 12 38 288 (WNW) cloudy none 00:00 16 11 24 269 (W) cloudy none 01:00 15 8 12 284 (WNW) mstly cldy none 02:00 13 8 22 276 (W) ptly cldy none 03:00 13 8 13 272 (W) ptly cldy humid 04:00 12 9 13 283 (WNW) clear humid 05:00 11 8 21 287 (WNW) clear humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
